I work part time as one of the Computing Officers in the School. I have been learning the secrets of computers ever since I stopped being a student in the days before the Web had been thought of, so I have loads of computing experience.

When I'm not in the office I may be reading my New Scientist. or listening to Radio 4 I'm a big fan of the I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, especially the ones where they play Mornington Crescent. Some of these activities have been somewhat curtailed by the arrival of Bryn, who prefers to go to Gorgie Farm. Further curtailments followed the arrival of Nye, especially in his first months because Clare was so ill. They haven't stopped me climbing mountains, although I haven't done much skiing for a while. I am a member of Spokes and I use a bike as my main means of transport for short journeys. I also have a tandem and trailer used on trips such as The Edinburgh to St Andrews Cycle Ride. When the the boys were too big for that we started using a U+2 which is a great way to travel en-famille. but they don't even fit that any more! For longer journeys, I look up British and European train timetables. or other public transport info. I think it's a good idea to be in a Trade Union because then you don't have to worry so much about looking for jobs.

I have a clear idea of hell, what to look out for on the way, what to avoid and why we go there. Do you think I'm right?
